Catching up

Whew! It's been another long while since my last post. I have to say though, it takes FOREVER to load these pics and vids on lately. I have no idea why. Hopefully it will fix itself :)

We've had lots of visitors lately. Mary Rose and Carey came to visit us for awhile at the end of January and Tom and Deb visited us just last week. We played and played and played the whole time. The kids had a blast and so did we. Seth and I took a short trip to Disney while we had a couple of babysitters on hand. We had fun at Epcot and then stayed the night and went to Hollywood Studios the next day before heading home. We also had a chance to have a dinner out on Valentine's Day which was nice (took advantage of more babysitters!). We frequented the Play Plus for Kole while we had a month pass and he had a blast playing with the toys but mainly the trains. We ended up picking up a nice train table with a load of wooden tracks from craigslist a few weeks ago and Kole is in seventh heaven!! I am happy the tracks and trains are off the floor. It's pretty tight in the living area but it will be fine for now. Having said that....I ended up picking up ANOTHER train table at the Goodwill for $6.99. I figured I could at least sell it and make money (we paid $75 for the other one with the tracks) since it was pretty solid and in good condition. So, now we have TWO train tables in our living room :) Secretly, it would be nice to keep both so we can use them down the road when we have a larger place to live. It would be GREAT to do crafts at or other games, especially the new one since it's an octogon shape and there is space for a bunch of kids to play at it. We'll see.....

Needless to say, Kole is busy with his trains. Living and breathing Thomas and Friends. Talking up a storm and repeating things lately. Also, calling us by our first names! Cute at first, but need to nip that in the bud quickly :)

Sydney is also doing great. She had her 9 month checkup the other day. Poor Buttercup is in the 3rd percentile for weight and height. *sigh* She IS healthy though so nothing to worry about. She's the size of a 4 or 5 month old. She's growing with the curve, just not with the other girls her age. She's doing the things a normal 9 month old should be doing like, sitting on her own, waving, clapping, babbling using consantants (dadada), and best of all FINALLY EATING SOLID FOOD!!!!! She had SUCH a hard time with this for several months. She would NOT swallow her food. She'd gag on it and spit it right out regardless of what it was. I called the dr. and asked for help and they told me to do a couple of things and it helped just a little. I was at my wit's end when one day, she just decided to open up her mouth, take in her bananas, and swallow them up. She ate an entire container of bananas in one sitting!!! The dr. said that she must have not been developmentally ready for the solid before but obviously is now. YAY! She hates her cereal but will eat some veggies and of course fruit. She's also a fan of yogurt. I've been trying to give her "puffs" but we are still working on that :) Sydney received a new baby kitchen set for her first birthday (early gift) from Nana and Papa. She LOVES it!!! She sits at it and bangs the food together and laughs.

Seth went fishing this past weekend to a place called Mosquito Lagoon. He caught a nice looking red fish. He went with a new customer of one of his salesmen in canoes. Guess who wants to chain a canoe out on our patio now? It's bad enough I have a fishing cart in my kitchen...

Well, I guess that's all to report for now. I'll do my best to post more vids but something must be wrong; it's taking hours to upload and there is an error message. *sigh*

Enjoy what I have here :)

A Little Sunshine to Brighten Your Day

Nothing new to report, just some random pics of the wee-ones. The weather has been nice and warm lately and supposed to be even nicer this coming week as we host the Davis'. Kole is already asking if Papa Snoop will take him on the train ride at the mall and they aren't even here yet :) Enjoy the pics :)

Middle of January

Can you believe it? I'm posting within such a short period of time from my previous post! Now....this is a good start but don't get too excited, it might not last. A few pictures to share with you below. Updates:

Kole continues to be obsessed with trains. Day and night. We opened up the Geotraxset we bought him for Christmas last week. We weren't going to because Kole was content with his wooden tracks and Thomas trains. We couldn't take it, we had to open it! Well, I'm happy to report he loves BOTH train sets!!!He plays with both of the seperately and also together. The Geotrax set is pretty cool since the train is controlled by none other than Kole the Conductor by remote. he thinks he is pretty cool, that's for sure. Kole met a friends at the mall play area last week. He and his new friend Jacob are equally rambunctious and are around the same age. Jacob's mom is very nice too and we made a play date for the kids to wild at a play center. Wouldn't you know....Kole got sick with a cold (damn mall play area) and we cancelled. Jacob's mom did give me the name and email address of a woman int eh area who is a leader fo ra MOPS group. I contacted her and am joining her "new" group that starts in February. I am totally excited! I am actually finding a little more time at night to do my own things lately. Sydney has been going to bed (albeit in her swing to start) MUCH earlier than she used to so I'm finding myself puttering around at night being totally unproductive. I've decided to take on a major project (productive) for the kids but am not quite ready to give any information out yet, but I'll be working on it at night when the house is quiet and I have my own time :) Stay tuned :)

Sydney got a new toy today---a pink jumperoo. We have one in GR that she LOVED while we were there so I thought I'd check the kids' consignment store or craigslist to see if I could find one less expensive than the one we bought for Kole that is currently collecting dust in our basement in GR. I found a cute pink one for Buttercup on craigslist for $25!! I also found a kitchen table booster seat for Kole in the same area so Seth picked up both of them on his way home from work. Sydney loves the jumperoo, even more after I adjusted the height on it so she could actually jump in it.

The weather here has been awesome the past week or so but is going to turn cold the next few days---only in the 50s! Good thing I packed long sleeved shirts this time around :) Well, that's all to report for now, enjoy the photos!

Okay this is old, but not sure if most of you have seen it. This was the first shot taken of them and they are both LOOKING and SMILING! The kicker: Sydney just came from her 6 month shots! They both look like rag-a-muffins (Kole's messy hair and Thomas t-shirt to Sydney's bare feet) but that's why I love it! It was totally spontaneous!

Watching a movie--Toy Story 3 of course

Oh....Buttercup....

Photos from the last month (or so...)

Finally, some photos of the kids and a little ditty from me. We had a busy month or so starting with a visit from Mary Rose at the end of November. We made a trip to the zoo, the mall to ride the train, and a trip to the pediatrician for some pinkeye. We also took a zillion photos of the family trying to get a good shot for our Christmas card. I think we found a winner and that photo found its way into many mailboxes this year. Shortly after our visit with Mary Rose we took a trip to Michigan for the holidays. We arrived on the 10th and were busy until we left on the 28th. We went to the GFS annual meeting in GR where Seth won a Gold Club award as well as a product award. We stayed at our house on Fuller since it has not yet sold. Seth left us on Sunday the 12th to return home to Florida and the kids and I stayed. We had an overnight visit from Carey and we took a trip to the cabin for a few days. We celebrated Christmas with Rachel and Matt and Dad and Deb and then a trip to Bay City for the start of the Christmas holiday. It was cut a bit short from the get-go with me turning around about 45 mins into the trip to clean our house spotless for a showing that night. We arrived in Bay City much later than anticipated, but we did arrive safely. We had a nice time seeing Jay, Keri, Emma, and our new neice Anna. Kole played really well with Emma, Keri and I stayed up late one night catching up, and Seth flew into Flint on Wednesday. Kole unexpectedly came down with a bug that kept him and Seth up all night and forced them to sleep in the bathroom, if you catch my drift. We were suprised to find out that Mary Rose was also ill and Carey woke up feeling under the weather as well. The Texas extention of the Davis clan quickly packed up and headed out so they could escape the germs. We ended up cancelling our family photo that was planned for so long with the photographer. The Florida extention of the Davis clan packed up their (clean) things and left to return to GR so Kole could mend and the three of us could escape the germs as well. Poor Kole was still pretty sick so we rented a boat load of movies and stayed inside for the next 24 hours. Unfortunately, Seth started not feeling well so Sydney and I decided to leave and attend the Rosloniec Christmas gathering at Aunt Rose's house. We had fun catching up with everyone and Buttercup got a chance to meet her cousin Paul who came in to GR from Santa Monica, CA. We left as a request from Seth came in to get home quick as he was in bad shape. I spent the next two days (including Christmas) packing our things to come back to Florida and keeping Sydney away from the germs (poor thing was quarantined to her chilly bedroom for days!) Christmas came and went (we cancelled Christmas with both families) but there were signs of a little improvement from the sickies. By the time the 28th arrived, Seth was feeling better and Kole was too (although I still double diapered him, just in case). It never felt so good to arrive back home (albeit a temporary home)!!!! Seth worked for a couple of days then had some time off for the holiday and the weekend. We took a trip to the zoo NYE day and ate chinese food to ring in the new year---even though we were both sleeping by the time the ball dropped at midnight. It was the first year in many many years that I didn't spend it with my friends Tina and Matt. We have remained friends since high school and always rang in the new year together. It wasn't the same without them :( New Year's day found me a year older (barf.) and out and about in the bustling city of Melbourne :)
Kole and Sydney are doing great. Kole is OBSESSED with trains these days. He lives and breathes trains. We gave him some Thomas trains and some tracks to play with while he was sick in GR and he's been hooked ever since. I hear him in the monitor just as he's waking up and he's talking about "pay trains? okay!" Since we've returned home that's all he's done is play trains. Well, I take that back. He's played trains and watched Toy Story 3. He's also obsessed with that movie (and Buzz and Woody too). I think we watch it almost every day.
Sydney is growing like a weed (finally!) but struggling to eat solid foods. I try everyday but she can't figure out how to swallow the food that's in her mouth. She ends up gagging on it and spitting it all out. *sigh* She is doing new tricks: clapping and also lots of babbling. Kole thinks she is pretty funny the way she babbles :) She's getting stronger everyday with her sitting as well. She is at such a fun age!!!
Seth has been going fishing when he can. The weather hasn't been great but the weekend had some sun and warmer weather so that found him at the beach. He finally caught the elusive Pampano fish he's been after and he cooked it up. If you liked fish I'm sure it was tasty but I don't generally like fish. He also brought home some whiting fish but I didn't try that. He's excited to have some visitors coming this Winter so he can teach them a thing or two about surf fishing :)
Me? Same 'ol same 'ol. Just trying to keep up with everything :)
here are some pics to enjoy.... :)

We had a birthday do-over for Seth's birthday---it was on the 28th but we re-did it on Monday. Complete with birthday cupcakes and "crafty" party hats for all!
