A Cold and Some Playtime

It's been awhile since I've posted anything but I haven't taken a whole lot of pictures lately. Nothing too new here, just excited about the sun shining and the warmer weather coming our way. Kole had a cold recently (he rarely gets sick!) and was pretty miserable. He harldly slept because he couldn't breathe out of his nose and Lord help him, he can't be without his green paci when he's sleeping. It was a rough night for both of us and another rough day since he was so tired but couldn't nap. Seth ran to the pharmacy and picked up a cool mist humidifier and that did the trick during the second night. He slept the whole night! Poor kid had a super runny nose and I had to use that retched blue bulb syringe to squeeze the snot out of his nostrils. Kole HATES it so much! During the squeegie sessions and through his tears he was signing "all done" and "help". Poor thing!! The fever broke and with some good sleep Kole felt better despite the drippy nose. I put some fresh comfy jammies on him and had a fun day of playing with the camera but had to chase him around with some kleenex in order to catch that runny nose!

Kole is becoming very interested in not only using his fork but also his spoon

Kole's favorite spot---the bookshelf. Yes, I took out one of shelves so he didn't.

Kole's new water bottle. I was so sick of him stealing mine and slobbering all over the spout!

A new book from Auntie Laura. She felt bad that Koley was sick :(

Lots of Misc. Stuff

Lots of little things have been going on here lately but nothing too major. Seth and I have been cleaning house getting ready for this baby to arrive. We need to take all of the furniture from the extra bedroom and make room for it in the basement. Make room being the key word. We've been in the basement making lists of things to get rid of. We have a bunch of postings on Craigslist and have had some success. Probably the biggest success was the sale of Seth's Harley Davidson---Finally!! Slowly but surely we are making room for baby :) We purchased our crib and a double stroller (I never imagined I'd need one of those but I sure will!) and decided to paint the baby's room.
Seth has been taking over several of my "duties" from me which helps alot. He's been grocery shopping, doing laundry (with my supervision, of course) and the dishes. What a difference it's been making; I feel good (knock on wood) and haven't needed a nap in about a week!
The weather here has been pretty mild and the snow is officially melting! The bad news is the backyard is DISGUSTING and Jersey is constantly bugging to go outside. YUCK, muddy paws!!!
The drama of the week had to do with me, unfortunately. I had a GREAT pedicure on Saturday afternoon that was so relaxing but then found my big toe infected early Sunday morning. I complained all day how bad it hurt and soaked it and bandaged it. Monday it was a little better but by the afternoon I saw a red streak in my toe coming from the red, infected part. Crap. I called my dr. and they told me to go to the ER as soon as I could---they were not going to wait to see me in the office the next day. I thought maybe there was another option and I asked, but the nurse said NO, if there is streaking then it's serious enough to go the ER and I need to be treated. Great. Rachel turned her car around on her way home from work and headed here to watch Kole as Seth insisted on coming to the ER with me. I was so embarrased about going there with an infected toe. Lame. We were there for a couple of hours with lots of people that may or may not have been sick. It was interesting to "people watch" that night. Funny observation: Some girl in her 20s was moaning and groaning about how bad her stomach hurt and she was carrying around a half empty 20oz bottle of Mountain Dew. Duh. Ditch the Dew. Maybe you'll feel better. In the end, the toe issue wasn't a huge deal but the dr. gave me an antibiotic to take for 10 days. It feels better already. Lesson: don't get pedicures. Or at least invest in your own tools and bring them with you to the nail salon. Gross.
Kole has been a talking machine lately. Babbling like crazy and "trying" to say words that you ask him to say. They don't really sound like the word you tell him to say, but he's trying! His newest words are "Papa" (which comes out Pka Pka), "cracker" and "cheese". He had "Nana" down for a day or two but he became confused quickly as we tried to teach him "banana". Now for both words he wiggles his tongue for about 3 syllables. He says "mama" and "daddy" (which comes out "Daaayyy!"), "cup", "uh-oh", and "go". His little voice is so darn cute!! He's been doing lots of practicing with his fork and really enjoying it. "Stabbing" lots of food. Kole has been getting into lots lately and doing lots of climbing. Just yesterday I caught him pushing a container of blocks over towards the ottoman, stood on the box and climbed up on top of the ottoman. He now climbs into his toy box and tries to reach into the corner for other toys and the end table with the lamp on it. Last week I literally found him in the hall closet. The funny thing is, he was waiting to be found. He KNEW he was hiding. He's been taking off with toys or other things and hiding in the corner of his room or in the small bathroom near the back door. It's like he knows I can't chase after him very good. When I do find him he has a grin on his face like he knows he's being funny or doing something wrong. Oh brother, this is JUST the start of it.
I guess that's all for now. Not too many videos to show but a few pics.

*ADDED*
I forgot to mention that the masked vegetable bandit struck our house again this week!! I don't remember if I mentioned it before but Kole has had a very hard time eating his veggies. He hates them so much he sticks his fingers in his mouth until they come up. Sick. So, I decided to take a few veggies that he did enjoy and "hide" other veggies inside. For instance, he likes squash, so I bought some frozen winter squash, cooked it, and smashed it smooth. Then I cooked some baby carrots on the stove and put them in the food processor until they were tiny pieces. I mixed it all together with some butter and a little brown sugar. Those went down quick and easy!!! The next week I took peeled baking potatoes and boiled them while also cooking a package of frozen mixed veggies. I pureed it all together with a little salt and pepper, butter and a little garlic. They smelled horrible and turned out green (the peas and green beans) but Kole at his "magic green potatoes" like a champ!!! The other day I peeled and boiled sweet potatoes and also some frozen broccoli. I pureed the broccoli and mixed it together with the smashed potatoes and added some butter, cinnamon, a little brown sugar. Again, they look gross but Kole LOVES them!!! YAY, Kole is eating his veggies!!!!! I only hope when he gets some back teeth to do some better chewing that he'll eat regular veggies. I'll put cheese on top even, but I just don't want to see them come up again. Gross.
