Birthday Boy!
Sorry it's taken so long to get this on the blog, I've run into some "technical difficulties". But here he is---The Birthday Boy!!!! We had so much darn fun at the birthday party and we hope everyone else did too. For those of you who don't know, it was a puppy dog themed party for Kole since he loves his dog (and all dogs really) so much. The menu consisted of several variety of hot dogs (of course) and other picnic type food. Great Nana stayed with us for the weekend and was a help to me in the kitchen Friday night while I put the finishing touches on everything. We were up early Saturday and off to fetch the cake and blow up balloons. Our guests started arriving just before noon and the grill was fired up. Kole was passed from person to person and pretty much loved the attention. We ate massive amounts of food and packaged a lot of it up in doggie bags for our guests (tons of leftovers). Kole opened his gifts and ate cake. He was not too interested in smashing the cake. He either didn't "get it" or didn't like it. Seth and I had to help him a little bit along the way. After a quick bath he was ready for round two of playing with whoever would give him the attention. Seth cleaned up (how did I manage that??) and our guests straggled out. Just after our last guest left, Kole went down for a LONG nap (and so did I). It was a GREAT party and we had a blast!
Sunday was the actual BIG day and we celebrated with Kole by taking him to the zoo. He LOVED the animals and pointed to just about everything he saw. He had fun! We took the fun all the way to Gander Mountain where Seth tried on some camo and Kole choked on a mouthful of goldfish crackers. He threw up in my hand and was okay. Whew! Another long nap followed and we played with toys and watched football the remainder of the day. I was so exhausted I left the dirty house the way it was and just relaxed with my boys.
Here are some pics and vids of the two BIG days!! (FYI: two of the zoo videos will not load. I will post them when I get my laptop back working)
Yes, I made that dog house :)

Getting Ready
We are getting ready to celebrate Kole's First Birthday this coming weekend!! I can't believe it's been a whole year already. I get misty-eyed just thinking about it. I'm trying to make a slideshow of all the pictures I have (what an undertaking at the last minute, eh?) and I'm teary just working on the project! Besides keeping busy with organizing the party, Kole and are planning to spend one day per week at Tina's house watching her boys while she's working. This will continue into the Fall until she has her baby (at the end of October). Kole is LOVING the boys and did his best to day to try and keep up with thier big boy play. Railroad tracks (cool!), running around and just playing; Kole was amazed! He is sprouting another tooth and it just broke through this morning. I no longer have to tell Kole we need to "brush your tooth" :) It's now "teeth"! He's been giving kisses lately, waving bye-bye, and playing SO BIG like a pro! Yesterday at Target he started coughing and without even telling him, he put his "arms up!" like I usually say to him. He copies lots of noises and when he drops a toy or his sippie cup he said "UH" (he can't QUITE get the "OH" on the end of that. He LOVES animals ( I think we'll head to the zoo this week or next week---oooh, maybe Sunday for his birthday) and gets excited when he sees them either on TV or in person.
Here are some pics below. I don't think I posted any of just Kole at the beach last time. He can be such a character.... Plus a couple of more.
Looking forward to seeing those who can make it out for the party on Saturday!

So BIG! (not so much, he's sifting sand between his fingers and watching it drop)

Classic Kole pose---he's getting excited over something. It might be the seagulls.

Labor Day Weekend
What a busy and fun Labor Day Weekend we had!! Let's see if you all can keep up :)
Friday had us up very early so we could get on the road for Bay City by 7:15am. I had the car packed the night before and we were off lickety-split on Friday! Kole and I slept most the of way there and we arrived around 10am-ish. Brad picked up Seth a little while later and they went golfing all day. We played with Nana and Papa, prepared some dinner for later on, and just hung out for awhile. After Kole's nap we ran a couple of errands. Jay, Keri and Emma were to arrive later on that evening but called saying one of thier flights was cancelled. They were now flying in to Lansing airport so Mary Rose and Carey drove to pick them up while I made the dinner. Brad stayed for our meal. We played the rest of the evening until Jay, Keri and Emma arrived home. It was SO GOOD to see our lovely, sweet, pretty niece Emma!! (oh, and good to see you too Jay and Keri...) She is getting so big and walking like a pro!! I tried to make enough noise to wake Kole up so the kids could play, but it didn't work. I guess that was a good thing though. We chatted for a bit then all went to bed. Early to rise (early came too soon after the TWO trains came barreling through during the wee hours of the morning waking all of us up twice!) the next morning as Seth and I, Jay and Keri, Keri's brother Ryan and his fiancee Becky were off to East Lansing for an MSU football game. The weather couldn't have been better; high 70s and sunny! Good time at the game. Ryan and Becky drove back to Bay City and the four of us drove to Grand Rapids. Earlier in the day, Nana and Papa drove back to Grand Rapids with both children in tow :) We arrived home just in time for Chinese dinner that Aunt Joanne brought over. Uncle Mike and Sarah were here as well. Dinner for all and we had a nice time chasing after the kids and watching them play. Little ones went off to bed and everyone went home. Jay, Keri, Seth and I stayed up chatting and watching TV. We all went to bed around 10:30-11pm. Up the next morning to a slow morning playing with and feeding the kids. Mary Rose and Carey as well as Sarah came over around 11am to prepare for a day at the beach. We first ordered pizza for lunch then headed out to North Shore Beach near Grand Haven. This is for sure one of the nicest and easist beaches to go to. The water was frickin' cold but the air temp and sun were perfect for the beach. We set up our small compound in the sand and hung out. Kole was not a fan of the sand at first but he warmed up to it eventually. We stayed for a couple of hours until the two kids started to fade. Emma got a bit tired and Kole got a bit crabby. We packed up our stuff and disassembled our compound. We said our goodbyes (sniff sniff) and started home. Seth and I rented some movies for the night and picked up the house. We all slept like babies that night. Monday found Kole and me with runny noses and sneezing. My issue was allergies but not sure about Kole's. I was worthless most of the day but did manage to have lunch with Rachel, A. Rosie, Sue and Paul that afternoon. Paul was in town for a few days and headed back to L.A. later that day. Crabbiness consumed me the whole evening as I battled with my dripping nose and constant sneezing ( I see the allergist on the 15th, thank GOD!). All in all it was a super weekend and so nice to spend it with our family!!
Here are some pics from the weekend plus a few randoms in the beginning. Enjoy!

So this was Jersey being scared of the oven that was on. She was hiding out in Kole's room and peeking her head out every so often. She's afraid the smoke alarm will go off. It did.

Jersey was like a little leach that afternoon the oven was on. She was so scared!

Kole and Emma after waking up. No, they didn't sleep in the same crib though.

Kole loves his cousin Emma!

It's so hard to find good babysitters. Glad we found a good one!
